Also proposed were bills on uniform purchase requirements for employers and higher police pay in downstate cities.
A U S attorney told a federal jury that Dr. Joseph W Weinberg was part of a secret Communist unit at Berkeley California. He faces perjury charges for allegedly lying to the House Un American Activities Committee in May 1949 about party membership and passing atomic secrets to Russia while at the wartime radiation laboratory.
U S Sabre jet pilots shot down two MIG15 fighters in air battles over North Korea as the Fifth Air Force reported. Two more MIGs were damaged and gun camera film is under review. Allied fighters also bombed factory areas near Sartallee south of the Manchurian border and struck Red positions near Panmunjom in dawn attacks.

Four Johnston City men were thrown from a car that overturned on Old City Road two miles west of Johnston City. James Carroll 25 suffered a fractured pelvis Bill Leigh 23 had a badly cut head. Carroll driver of the car was to be transferred to Marion Veterans Hospital. Carl Briscoe and Audie Rains Jr 23 received first aid and were dismissed. All were found in a cornfield about 3 am. length of time they lay there unknown.
