Mine opening expected at No 21 mine near Lesser
Old Ben Coal Corp officials expect to resume production at the No 21 mine near Lesser today after completing a carbon dioxide pumping operation. The mine had been shut since Sunday due to heat in a sealed area found during inspections. The area was re sealed after ventilating and CO2 was pumped down a shaft to suppress heat. the seals were first opened in August 1968 after a smoldering fire caused a two week shutdown.
