Washington reports the Wage Stabilization board may delay a new wage policy beyond next week as labor members resist thawing the Jan freeze. Meanwhile wholesale prices for the week ending Feb 6 rose 0.7 percent to 182.2, with farm products and meat leading gains.
Eddy Duchin, famed pianist and bandleader, died in New York at 41 after a battle with leukemia. He had served in the navy for eight years, earning a lieutenant commander rank and a personal World War II combat citation from Rear Adm. Walter S. Delany shortly before death. Duchin, born in Cambridge, Mass., led his own band after early work with Leo Reisman, appeared in films, and was known as The Magic Fingers of Radio. He leaves his wife Maria Teresa Winn and a sister. funeral services set for Sunday.

Julia Henderson, Du Quein Hr., appointed director of the division of social welfare in the United Nations Department of Social Affairs.
