Pilot helps stranger in need to reach hospital fast
Linda Goforth of Carbondale faced a race against time after learning Cynthia Grammer, her daughter in law, was in a severe car wreck. Steve Burroughs a Murphysboro banker and instrument rated pilot organized a rapid flight to Mobile Alabama with his son as co-pilot. He checked weather and secured an open airport near the hospital to bypass airspace restrictions. A medical costs fund was set up in Grammer’s name at Hancock Bank in Gulfport Mississippi.
