Canines blamed in boy's death four dogs killed
Four dogs tied to the mauling death of 14 year old Kevin Zook near Akin were shot by owner Bill Waller, who reported to Franklin County authorities the Great Danes and a St Bernard were killed after the youth was found dead in a corn field. Coroner Seagle noted torn clothing and bite marks while deputies said Waller also killed stray dogs. State's Attorney Hopkins said criminal charges unlikely and civil liability would be hard to prove. The boy, son of Elvon and Margie Zook, was from Macedonia and funeral services were held in McLeansboro with burial at Brady Cemetery near Akin.
