State regulators have not finished detailing the existing indoor smoking law. Most remaining issues are minor, like appeal processes. Enforcement will be local and complaint driven, with towns such as Bloomington and Normal cited for guidance.
Illinois public places and workplaces must be smoke free inside and within 15 feet of entrances under the Smoke Free Illinois Act. The rule covers offices elevators restrooms theaters museums libraries schools shopping centers restaurants bars gaming facilities lobbies hallways and more. It also applies to hotels public conveyances government vehicles and health care facilities as specified by the Illinois Department of Public Health.
Law changes allow workers slightly more time off to donate blood than the prior one hour every 56 days. Employers must provide extra time if lines are long or the donor is slow. Lawmakers approved new specialty license plates, including Korean War veterans and Sheet Metal Workers, but printing will wait until orders rise.
