Miller sacks Boyle backers to seize UMWA control
Arnold R. Muer, newly elected president of the United Mine Workers of America, replaces Boyle loyalists on the executive board with Miller supporters. The move escalates a bitter power struggle as Boyle allies defend their hold, appoint watchdog groups, and block a $50,000 transition fund while court battles reshape the union’s leadership.
