Great niece recalls Silent Night impact on life
Hazel Willey of Marietta Ohio, 71, says the carol Silent Night written by her great-uncle Franz Gruber and Joseph Mohr 154 years ago on Christmas Day 1818 has shaped her life. She often reflects on its message, finding comfort and lift during tough weeks as she remembers the Austrian origins and village church of Oberndorf where the carol was first performed.
