Lighting the Holidays with Electric Christmas Lights
The rise of electric tree and home lighting traces to 1895 when Ralph Morris, a New England Telephone worker, decorated his tree with string lights. Some credit Edward John, Edison’s partner, with inventing the concept. Southern Illinois communities continue the tradition, brightening homes and yards for the holidays.
