Snowy shopping continues as shoppers brave winter weather
Snow fell heavily in western counties yet shoppers filled malls in Marion and Carbondale. At Illinois Centre Mall, Bob Hardy noted bundles of bags and urgency to finish Christmas buying. Debbie Tindall at University Mall echoed the idea that cold, damp air and mid December timing spur buys. Temperatures near freezing and rising to mid fifties by mid next week were forecast, while a separate power outage in Carbondale affected residents for about 90 minutes.
