SIU Board Denies Tenure for Douglas Allen
The SIU Board of Trustees voted 3 to 2 to deny tenure to philosophy assistant professor Douglas M. Allen despite strong faculty and president backing. The decision ends his faculty service when the current contract expires in mid June 1972 amid debate over his activism and comments about the Center for Vietnamese Studies. An earlier appeal by Leland Stauber seeking a review was denied.
