Tenor John Tufts to Sing Messiah at Southern Illinois
John Tufts of St. Louis returns as tenor soloist for Southern Illinois University's Messiah program directed by Dr. Maurits Kesnar. Tufts, an Army Air Force veteran and Washington University graduate, has performed in New York choirs and oratorios including Bach St. Matthew Passion and Handel Judas Maccabaeus. The concert is Sunday December 11 at Shryock auditorium at 7 30 p m and free to the public.

The Donald Forsyth American Legion post in Carbondale now accepts reservations for parties and banquets at 500 West Main Street. Public dining room moved to the first floor to accommodate events. Members decorated the building for Christmas. An all Legion stag card party was held last night with Attorney Glenn Brown as speaker for the Pearl Harbor Day observance and Floyd Brewer providing music.
