Missing pathologist could derail Curry death case in Illinois
Federal prosecutors warn a forensic pathologist who fled the country may leave no evidence linking Jennifer L. Krieger to the 2005 death of Jennifer A. Curry in West Frankfort. Krieger, charged with distribution of a controlled substance causing death, allegedly provided a Duragesic Fentanyl patch. Court records note autopsy samples were taken by Dr. John A. Heidingsfelder, who fled abroad, risking incomplete testimony on the blood, bile and urine analysis and its role in establishing a cause of death. Trial set for January after indictments in 2006.
