The Carbondale Chamber of Commerce sets December 13 as the deadline for applications to the charter class of Leadership Carbondale limited to 14 participants. Tuition is 990 with 90 paid upfront. program includes 12 full day sessions and a retreat, plus meals and transport.
Details on applications are available from the Carbondale Chamber of Commerce. Deadline is December 13. The office is at the Old Depot, corner of Main Street and Illinois Avenue. Classes begin January 13 with an opening retreat at Touch of Nature. Graduation is December 9, 2003, at the Chamber board luncheon and will be recognized at the annual banquet.
SIUC and the Alumni Association introduced an official class ring in the University Bookstore. The solid gold ring series is available to juniors or alumni, with prices from 340 to 655 for men and 250 to 415 for women. Orders by February 13 earn a ceremony presentation on Honors Day in April. Rings can be traded in with a fee, and proceeds support student and alumni programs.
Police stopped Tina Arlene Smith of Carbondale for no headlights after dark and found two Jackson County warrants. One for criminal damage to property with a $3,000 bond, the other for forgery with a $25,000 bond. Smith is held in Jackson County Jail.
Cobden man Christopher Myers, charged with kidnapping his estranged wife at gunpoint and setting her home ablaze, heads to court Monday on four Class X counts including aggravated arson and home invasion. He also faces disorderly conduct, weapons, and false report charges as a jury trial on arson begins.
