Five escape house fire in Herrin center
A family of five escaped unharmed from a major early morning house fire on 417 Chittyville Road off Freeman Spur Road in Herrin. The family credits their barking dog for alerting them. firefighters arrived at 4:24 a.m. and found heavy smoke from the single-family dwelling before the roof caved in.
