Perry County schools lift levies while expecting rate drop
Perry County districts plan higher levies to cover rising costs and gain new equalized assessed property valuations. Du Quoin, Pinckneyville Grade School and District 204 boards show increases. Pinckneyville High may rise. Yet tax rates may fall as EAV grows. Du Quoin cites shortfalls in retirement and insurance costs, potential state aid delays, and tight levy limits. Pinckneyville and District 204 aim to stabilize rates while capturing new construction and EAV gains.
