Illinois Lawmaker Opposition Threatens Tax Reform Package
Legislators and interest groups oppose a raft of tax and school construction bills. The package centers on a real property tax freeze for 1974 75 and 76 with limited exceptions and a local option refund. Separate measures authorize 40 60 100 million in bonds and grants for school construction and related funds. Each bill requires a three fifths vote to pass.
