West Frankfort Mourns Soldier Killed in Iraq

West Frankfort Army sergeant Matthew J. Vosbein, 30, died in Iraq on a second tour when his vehicle hit a roadside bomb. He dreamed of soldiering since youth, leaving behind two sons and a stepson. He returned for Iraqi children, helping and building swing sets during downtime. He is survived by mother Anna Williams and wife, among others. Vosbein previously lived in West Frankfort until age 10, returning often to visit relatives. He served with the 101st Airborne Division, 502nd Infantry Regiment.
