Tony Stagno of Murphysboro reunites with his eldest son Angelo Sagno after 25 years as Angelo and family arrive in New York on Aug 16 and settle in Murphysboro under non quota permanent resident status. Angelo plans for younger son Tino to join later this year or next. Angelo spoke four languages and will assist his father until fluent in English.

Gunman slain after four hour police siege in Detroit

Charles Luther Rollins, 44, of Leoma Tennessee, died after a four hour siege in a northwest Detroit home. Police say Rollins fired at least forty rounds as tear gas, flames, and gunfire surrounded the building, wounding two officers while about 5,000 spectators watched.

Former Carbondale Man Authored Book Dulanys of Maryland

Aubrey C. Land a former Carbondale resident and SIU graduate has written Dulanys of Maryland a history book published this summer. Land now teaches history at Vanderbilt University in Nashville Tennessee and earned his bachelor s degree from SIU in 1934. The work traces the Dularys a Maryland family prominent before the American Revolution.
