A Sunday night fire destroyed Christopher Community High School, causing an estimated 500000 dollars in damage. Edward Terry of Flora Indiana, en route home with his wife and two sons after a Oklahoma vacation, turned his car around to chase his father traveling to Hot Springs Arkansas. Elderly Farm Worker Killed By Automobile
A 75 year old Carbondale area worker, G W Murray, was fatally injured when struck while crossing Route 51 two miles north of De Soto Sunday evening. Tony Wenzel, driver, swerved to miss the man but Murray died at Doctors' Hospital in Carbondale eight hours later from a skull fracture. Coroner planned no inquest yet as Deputy Sheriff Roy Carter investigated the incident. Funeral services are with Norris Funeral Home Anna. Murray leaves a Colorado niece.
