Aztec Ruins Unearthed In Mexico City Zocalo Site
In the heart of Mexico City archaeologists under INAH uncover a ceremonial platform a slanting wall a massive 82 ton round relief stone and two serpents at the base of a temple complex in the Zocalo near the National Palace and Cathedral. Professor Eduardo Matos notes two temples sit within the pyramid and stairs rise 150 feet. Critics warn that ongoing development risks further destruction but advocate salvage as new discoveries will continue amid subways pipelines and highways.
