Collision leaves nurse dead and grandson injured in Illinois crash
Franklin County Sheriff Bill Wilson reported a 5:46 p.m. Aug 14 collision on Illinois 148 at Walter Lake Road. Brown crossed center line and struck Collier head on, killing Brown and burning Collier’s pickup. Collier, extracted by bystanders, survived with injuries and was flown to Barnes Jewish Hospital. he is in rehabilitation with a walker for two to three weeks. Brown, a nursing graduate, had started at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. Emergency crews from multiple agencies responded. witnesses noted Brown’s unexpected move and urged drivers to stay alert.
