Lincoln deputy fatally shoots man after clash on I 55

Logan County deputy Sgt. Robert Copeland fired on William G. Winlock, 22, as he lunged at the officer with a bottle inside a smoking SUV on the I 55 median near McLean. Winlock died at a Springfield hospital. passenger Kathy J. Lattanzi, 18, was treated for injuries. Coroner ordered an inquest. autopsy planned to determine influence of drugs.
