Lemonade Kid Donates Profit To Local Women's Center
Paul Cook, a 10-year-old Carbondale resident, sold lemonade with two friends on a hot day to raise funds for Archway and the Carbondale Women’s Center. He donated 5.50 from sales to stock the food cupboard, saying he wants to help those in need. Paul has also supported a 10-mile walk for Archway and plans another 10-mile event for the Equal Rights Amendment.

One campus plan eyed as CCHS finances rebound
Superintendent Reid Martin told the Carbondale Community High School District 165 board that the district shows a strong financial turnaround from a 1976教育 fund deficit of 696,705 to a 1978 balance of 129,000. He cited belt tightening, the lowest tax levy since 1963, and proposed a single campus with future building reviews and a community committee to assess needs and costs.
