Peru earthquake death toll climbs to 450 in Deserts of Ica and Pisco
In southern Peru the magnitude 8 quake left 450 dead and more than 1,500 injured as survivors wandered ruins in Ica and Pisco. Hospitals crowded with patients, many outdoors, while officials warned numbers could rise. The San Clemente church in Pisco became a deadly focal point as two minutes of shaking collapsed the structure and trapped worshippers.
