Popham Seeks Clemency After Prison Terms and Parole
George Popham of Herrin has requested executive clemency at the October Division of Corrections meeting. He received three concurrent 1 to 20 year sentences in 1956 for armed robberies at Bainbridge Jewelry Marion Jeannie's Club Colp and Christopher. Paroled in 1960, he was returned as a parole violator and seeks clemency citing average adjustment, work in quarry and religious services, and plans to live with his parents if granted.

Model Plane Trophies Won at Arnold Flight Center Meet
Egyptian Model Airplane Club members won prizes at a flying contest sponsored by the Arnold Research and Development organization at the Arnold Flight Center in Tullahoma Tennessee. Sherman Overman of Carbondale won first in rubber powered models and a special award for best performance in the international class. Others include Dick Berry Carbondale second in Nordic Glider and engine powered, Lee Boatright Marion first in hand launched glider, Richard Dusek Carbondale fifth in hand launched junior glider, Charles Brown Carbondale fifth in 4A engine powered, Ed Cappagerco Herrin fourth in 344 engine powered, Ed Aiman Marion first in 44A open engine powered and third in Nordic glider, with Mr and Mrs Paul Thomas of Anna also competing. The meet was sanctioned by the American Model Association.

Woman Sues Insurer After Airport Fall
Genelic Sneed of Creal Springs sues Continental Casualty Co. in Williamson County Circuit Court for 15780 claiming a fall while boarding a plane at Williamson Airport on October 13 1961. She says the insurer was notified October 26 1961 but has paid nothing, seeking medical bills and alleged disability repayment.
