Illinois lawmakers await Thompson action on several bills
Gov James Thompson faces action on two bills next week with eight more awaiting his desk by September. One signed Sunday grants free license plates to former prisoners of war, a move praised by Rep Bruce Richmond though he criticizes the lack of notice. Other measures cover coal research funding, tax credits, bad-check reforms, property forfeiture as theft, river conservancy powers, and port district residency rules.
