Local celebrity shortage in Cooper Iowa featured by Bombeck
In a humorous column Erma Bombeck notes Cooper Iowa with 50 residents seeks a foster celebrity after failing to produce a famous local figure. She cites Johnny Carson as the chosen dream and riffs on towns craving fame for parades, fundraisers, and elections while Roy Rogers’ horse Trigger is humorously misattributed as a native.
