Wheatley School surplus sale to liquidate old building
Desks and odds and ends remain as small districts show interest in purchases. Robbins notes little left, and officials expect proceeds to fund razing all but the gym and moving utilities to the gym. The site may become a parking area after the playground is removed, with 2 to 3 vacant lots possibly sold. Thousands of Du Quoin children once attended the Franklin Line Street school before the new K-8 opened three years ago.
