Herrin rejects Park Street parking ban decision

Herrin City Council chose not to ban parking on Park Street north and south of downtown. The resolution asks IDOT to redesign Park Street with four 11 foot driving lanes and two 8 foot parking lanes from Maple to Hemlock and from Adams to near Bond, plus a 12 foot center left turn lane from Maple to Adams. The plan includes a left turn lane at Park and Herrin and potential parking restrictions near the intersection. IDOT will implement the changes during a fiscal 1983 resurfacing project at no city cost.
