Royalty at Williamson County Fair pageant day
The Williamson County Fair hosted a Sunday full of coronations as 33 children competed in the annual children's pageant at the fairgrounds on the second day. Reigning Miss Williamson County Fair Lindsey Snider helped nervous contestants with final touches and encouragement while McKayla Ferrell, 1, of Creal Springs charmed judges and audiences. Separately, the Illinois EPA granted Marion Ridge Landfill a construction permit after four years of review, authorizing a 189 acre disposal area with 37.15 million cubic yards of capacity on a 358 acre site, potentially bringing the county over 20 million dollars in 20 years.

Railroad appeal delays Tamaroa residents' lawsuit
The Canadian National Illinois Central Railroad appeals a St. Clair County judge's ruling certifying a Tamaroa area residents class action over a February 9 2003 derailment involving hazardous chemicals. The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages and now includes almost 500 people.

Former Banterra Bank to house Williamson County offices
Marion officials transform the former Banterra Bank into a new county office hub. Coroner Michael Burke and staff from economic development general assistance and domestic violence will relocate with a $200,000 purchase and about $100,000 in renovations.
