Boundary line proposed to curb Carbondale Murphysboro growth

Murphysboro and Carbondale officials propose a boundary line at Country Club Road to limit cross city expansion. Murphysboro City Council endorsed the plan 9-0 with two aldermen absent, awaiting Carbondale approval. The plan aims to stop zoning jurisdiction at the road while allowing possible future use as a dividing line if growth continues. Also, funds were approved to pursue federal grants for a new community pool and a sewer project on Commercial Avenue to Riverside Park, with completion targeted for October.
