Soto sentenced to six years for probation violation and new charge
Soto faces up to six more years if convicted of trespassing at 409 Smith Avenue in Du Quoin. The new charge is pending with a September jury trial. Soto admitted violating probation in late May as sentencing for the original case occurred. Two accomplices in the 2003 Bragg burglary, Gerald Stroud and Kenneth Fleming, also faced pleas and probation or misdemeanor theft outcomes.

A Thursday evening blaze severely damaged Tree-O Lumber mill on Woodhaven Road. Firefighters saved much machinery but the building suffered heavy fire and smoke damage. Cause undetermined but not suspicious. No injuries reported.
