Chester Center faces abuse charges and defense by staff
Patients at the Chester Mental Health Center say they are treated fairly despite outside claims of abuse. State Sen. Ozinga and the Citizens Commission on Human Rights allege widespread mistreatment, while center officials defend safety procedures, note incident reviews, and oppose the abuse charges. The commission plans further legislative probes and a stronger mental health code with subpoena power.
