Local golfers Miller and Gwaltney take runner up at Gateway Sectional
Phillip Miller of Chester and Jeff Gwaltney of Herrin finished second in the 16-18 division at the PGA Gateway Sectional junior tournament this week. Miller shot 79 76 for 155, two behind division winner Matt Pestka of St. Louis, while Gwaltney carded 79 77 for 156, one shot back.

Coulterville teen plays in UK Classic golf tour
Stephen Miles 17 of Coulterville represented the United States in the 16 18 age division of the UK Classic after a five month selection process. He traveled with teammates from Utah Wisconsin Massachusetts and Pennsylvania, winning the skills assessment plus chipping and long drive contests and tackling famed European courses from Hampton Court to St Andrews and North Berwick.
