Sparta Man Robbed at Gunpoint in Du Quoin
A 29-year-old Sparta man, Herbert Austin, was robbed at gunpoint in his car on South Street in Du Quoin after giving a ride to three people Thursday evening. He was forced to surrender cash, later reporting to police shortly before 11 p.m. The suspect fled on foot. Police arrested 25-year-old Paul Thomas of Du Quoin in connection with the incident. investigation continues.

In Jackson County two people were injured in a Thursday morning crash at Old Route 13 and Illinois 127.
