Fire threat jumps border in Montana wildfire near Glacier Park
In Polebridge Montana a 25 000 acre wildfire jumped a defense line along Trail Creek Road near Glacier National Park. Over 1 200 firefighters protected about 100 residences as embers crossed the road and burned 400 to 500 acres more. No buildings were lost Saturday though 86 structures including seven homes had burned. Canada mobilized bulldozers to create a northern barrier as cooler wet weather aided suppression efforts and residents began returning to West Glacier after evacuation orders eased. The widespread fires across the West totaled about 25 major blazes as humidity rose.
