McPherson aims for modest member growth and ongoing Rotary Ann programs Student Honors Day Rose Day Farmers Night and the Christmas tree sale. he co-owns Brock's Walgreen Drug Store in Du Quoin.
An electrical problem delays renovation of Doctors Memorial Hospital ICU in Carbondale. The eight bed unit has been shut since July 15 for equipment, painting and roof work. Acting administrator Dennis Taylor says it will stay closed until further notice while grounding of electrical equipment is completed. No patient has required ICU care since work began, and trauma transfers will continue to neighboring facilities in St Louis and Chicago.
The Jackson County Health Dept. hosts a free health fair for Dowell Elkville Hallidayboro residents on August 9 from 4 to 8 pm at Elkville Elementary School. Screenings include diabetes, hearing, height and weight, blood pressure, immunizations, dental exams, plus vision testing and pulmonary function screening.
