No new trial for man convicted of killing teacher
A three judge Mount Vernon panel rejected 33 year old Lee's bid for a new trial and sentence in the 1998 killing of Unity Point teacher Ellen Drake. The panel ruled jurors heard no improper evidence and that the life term for murder and 15 year burglary sentence were proper.

Carbondale Police Seek Suspect in Two Auto Burglaries
Police in Carbondale search for a suspect linked to two auto burglaries this week. A Panasonic in-dash face plate was taken from Ryan Moss’s vehicle at 218 W Freeman St between 9:45 and 9:55 p.m. Monday. The suspect is described as 5 feet 7 inches tall with a thin build, short dark hair, and a trimmed beard. A second burglary affected David Stearns’s truck at 1370 E Main St between 10 p.m. Sunday and 12:01 a.m. Monday.
