Southwestern Perry County talks patch road dispute plan
Southwestern Illinois Coal Co and Perry County officials met Friday to resolve a long running road closure dispute tied to mining plans. The firm seeks long term expansion with Captain mine near Cutler expected to grow, while Streamline equipment may shift to Perry County if reserves run out. The board rejects a straight road over the mining pit, offering an alternate route though a pure road over the pit remains a point of contention. Southwestern will pay a 1000 dollar monthly contract penalty until a road replacement is completed.
