Fate of state copters uncertain in Illinois budget
Illinois Transportation Secretary Kirk Brown warned funding may not cover continuing state helicopter operations for medical and police missions in the new fiscal year. He rejected bills to bill hospitals for flights, noting a $4.5 million budget request could keep the service if lawmakers approve, but a contract for three new helicopters won’t be signed amid cuts and a budget crisis.
