SIU unveils bronze Saluki statue on con course
SIU Athletic Director Mario Moccia and Chancellor Rita Cheng unveil a life sized Saluki statue on the concourse at SIU Arena and Saluki Stadium. Designed by Garry Newton of Houston the statue faces the main entrance and honors the Saluki spirit as part of Saluki Way investments totaling over 54 million dollars toward the arena and stadium completed last August.

Franklin County sales tax set to begin in January
Franklin County voters approved a 1 percent sales tax in April. The county board must pass the ordinance by Oct. 1 and send it to the Illinois Department of Revenue. Tax takes effect Jan. 1 with funds to school districts flowing starting next April to the Franklin-Williamson Regional.

Tornado damages Lambert Field in St Louis
