Harrisburg ties two towns by aid for tornado victims
Harrisburg Pa residents donated supplies and about 2500 dollars to a Harrisburg Relief Fund after a February tornado. A 740 mile semi from Harrisburg Pa arrived Tuesday night and unloaded Wednesday at Greystone Building on Veterans Drive with 22 East Side Elementary and Harrisburg High students assisting. Mayor Eric Gregg called it remarkable as two communities unite. Kirk Wilson, WHP-TV reporter and former Carlisle mayor, organized the effort. See Harrisburg page 3A.

Medicaid panel fails to meet goal on cuts in Illinois
A bipartisan Illinois panel could not finish a plan to trim Medicaid by 2.7 billion dollars by the deadline. Gov Pat Quinn plans to press his own proposal as the panel offered 56 ideas totaling about 1.4 billion in savings. The ideas include ending Illinois Cares Rx and limiting drugs while also weighing a cigarette tax boost and provider rate cuts.

Carbondale Park District to launch Spr ay Fest and capital drive
Carbondale Park District plans a May 20 Spr ay Fest at Attucks Park to celebrate season opening and the launch of a capital campaign aimed at raising 900000 for a new outdoor aquatic center.
