Mayor Rich and Aldermen Glen Hill and Beverly Calvert accepted resignations from water department officials amid unpaid bills. Huddleston voted against the measure while Rich abstained. Rich noted a 30 day window to fill the vacancies and said the council will prioritize infrastructure issues as replacements are named.

State's Attorney Garnall declined comment on why theft charges against Sharonda Lee Miller were dropped. Miller, previously charged with stealing a 1997 black Ford Taurus, wallet, and briefcase linked to Alexander County assistant state’s attorney Steven Jett, who was killed at his Cambria apartment. Miller remains jailed in Williamson County on federal drug charges.
Williamson County Sheriff Tom Cundiff warned residents about a mail fraud scheme. A local recipient received a letter from attorney Matthew A. Farris of Santa Monica claiming an unclaimed cash inheritance and asking for $89 to cover a processing fee.
Leslie W. Taylor, 39, of West Frankfort, was driving southbound on Illinois 37 when he failed to negotiate a curve, skidded, struck a tree on the passenger side, and suffered major injuries. He was airlifted to Barnes Hospital after initial treatment at Franklin County Hospital. charged with DUI and improper lane usage.

An additional notice for George Buck Brimm 86 and an Anna Brimm entry were incomplete.
Cletus B Naeger 84 died April 16 2002 at Memorial Hospital Chester born January 5 1918 in Weingarten Missouri to Bernhard and Regina Naeger married Dorothy Strinaman October 14 1950 in Prairie du Rocher survived by eight children including Nancy Muzzarell Ned Naeger Glenn Naeger and Tim Naeger and many relatives. He was a member of St Mary Catholic Church laborer and farmer and held roles on local boards and coached Khoury League in Prairie du Rocher. Burial is in St Joseph Cemetery Prairie du Rocher with services at St Mary Devin Maternity Ellis Grove. Visitation details listed with funeral home and donations desired to Three Springs Lodge Nursing Home or the American Diabetes Association.
