State Energy agree on new water main through Energy

The Illinois Department of Transportation and Energy Village Board reached a plan to install an 8 inch water main along Illinois 148 as part of widening the highway. Village President Bob Jeralds said the village will pay about 35000 with no water rate increase planned. The project aims to improve fire protection and support future expansion as the two lane road becomes four lanes with a center turn lane in a 2 million dollar phase II widening from Herrin to Illinois 13. The village also agreed to contribute about 10000 toward 90000 for signals and sidewalks along the new highway.
