County avoids red ink for now in Perry County
Perry County nearly faced a financing shortfall last week but state wire transfers delayed borrowing. County Treasurer Tibretta Bigham-Reiman said January sales tax and property replacement taxes plus health revenues kept funds afloat for this week. The county biked by with about 210000 in current funds, 48000 paid, and 120000 payroll looming, leaving roughly 42000. The tax rate will dip slightly when FIFO changes take effect, and a large health debt of 135000 remains, with claims to be paid by July 1 to preserve re insurance coverage.
