Last group OKs profiling settlement in Cincinnati case
The final group of 27 ACLU of Ohio representatives unanimously approved a proposed settlement to end a year old lawsuit accusing Cincinnati police of decades of racial profiling against black residents. The deal, still needing a federal judge’s approval, creates a new agency to review police complaints. The suit, filed March 2001, demands a court order banning racial profiling and followed a fatal shooting of an unarmed black man by a white officer weeks after the suit’s filing.
