Fire brigade respond to late Monday blaze on hill
During a regular Monday practice a rubbish fire started on the west riverbank. A citizen sounded an alarm after seeing flames. Firemen reported the blaze between seven and nine o'clock and quickly mobilized as autos crowded the streets.

Ben Shull aged about 82 died at his Myrtle Point home from burns after a gasoline stove exploded at his ranch near Broad Bend. He moved to Coos County in 1872 from North Carolina, leaving seven children Robbie LeRoy Elizabeth Rodney Ray Ada Jennie Benjamin B. H. and Ellis. He was a member of the Masonic lodge. Funeral plans awaited word from a daughter in San Diego.

Wallet of Money Lost After Car Crash Near Arago
Mrs. Frank Smith and her daughter, traveling near the Chas Butler place Cai, were in a collision when their Chevrolet rolled over after a passing car. A wallet worth about 200 dollars was believed lost but was later found inside Mrs. Smith’s dress. Car Robbery Report From Saturday Night Thefts
A garage on Sev enth street was broken into Saturday night and about 25 dollars of tools and fixtures were stolen. Noted missing items include chains and eight gallons of gas plus a quart of oil. A spotlight and tires were attempted but not taken. Nearby, visiting Portland residents Tom Haggerty reported their car left with a tent over it, which thieves removed along with tools. Another car near the Goeria hotel lost tools in the same period. Police suspect the thieves may be dogs.
