Myrtle Point Seniors Host Picnic Honoring Juniors

Seniors from Myrtle Point High held a Sunset Beach picnic for the juniors after a banquet. On the return trip a bump in the road jolted Miss Alice Guerin, a senior, causing a blood arc and unconsciousness. She was taken to a hospital and by morning was conscious and talking. Her parents expect to bring her home this afternoon.

Mrs Charlotte L Wyrick Dies in Oregon Funeral Held

Mrs Charlotte L Graves born 1854 near Madison Wisconsin moved with family to Kansas then Oregon later settling in Coos County. She died May 16 at her son’s home in Camp 1 Bridge Oregon aged 66. Funeral held May 18 at Roseburg Undertaking parlor with interment in Masonic cemetery.

City Charter Amendments Pass As Bond Issue Approved

Three amendments to the City Charter were approved in Friday’s election. Voters backed a $12,000 bond for a new city hall by a 3 to 1 margin, authorized a police court fine up to $300, and permitted the sale of the $12,000 bond. The council canvassed the results Monday and will solicit bids for concrete and hollow building tile once plans are ready.

Bridge Commencement Exercises Held at High School

Shootout Near Myrtle Point Ends Without Harm

Mrs Elizabeth Martin of Reedsport confronted her husband in Myrtle Point as he faced divorce proceedings and fired three shots from a 32 revolver. The bullets missed. Martin was not hurt. Mrs Martin was arrested, bound over to the grand jury with $1000 bail and remained jailed for failing to raise it.

Myrtle Point High School presented All of a Sudden Peggy at Hermann hall on May 20 with a crowded house. The 1924 class carried roles confidently, each actor delivering polished performances praised by the audience. Cast included Margie Anthony as Lady Crackenthorpe Neil MacDonald as Lord Crackenthorpe Ora Carter as Mrs O Meara and Vesta Davis as Peggy.
