The city council in regular session discussed suspending action on a special election to issue bonds for waterworks improvements. Voter canvass suggests not enough support to carry bonds, with concerns about meetability of payments next year and beyond. Last week the county court ordered a 60 foot wide road from Remote’s Bridge as part of the Roseburg Myrtle Point highway. A B Gidley won a 3350 foot contract to straighten the road to the Powers bridge for 9000 dollars. An additional 500 dollars was appropriated for the Parkersburg Prosper road on Coquille’s left bank. The Marshfield Coquille segment won’t open before May as concrete sets.
Honorable Binger Hermann of Roseburg states Myrtle Point holds a place in his heart and endorses active local commerce. He assigns no urgent obligation to join groups yet urges residents and property owners to bolster the Myrtle Point Commercial Club with participation and funds. He encloses a $1000 membership check and hopes others will follow suit for regional advancement.
Bay Park mill closes indefinitely on Saturday night signaling the end of wood working plants on the bay. Willamette-Pacific Co in North Bend remains the sole operating facility with orders for continuous output and a shutdown is not expected.

Myrtle Point Grammar School defeated Marshfield 17 to 4 to clinch the county junior title. Coquille beat Myrtle Point 29 to 10 on their home floor at the Oaks. Fraser raised 2700 dollars for Chinese relief. marriage licenses issued for Ramsey McLeod and Pullen Johnson and Tenhardtt Gentry.
